I am a visual artist and an explorer of multi mediums. I create realistic landscapes in oils, bold colourful abstracts in acrylics, as well as unique watercolours.

I am inspired by everything around me. My fondest hope when you visit my website or home studio, is, that my paintings will let you enjoy a walk down a path, contemplate the beauty of nature and life, or maybe just go somewhere you have never gone before.

I enjoy life every day. I paint with passion; and blend a bit of my soul into each painting. Once the painting is done, my creation gives me a feeling of new-found faith in myself and why I was placed on this earth.
Biography

Suzanne Barrow began painting in Winnipeg Manitoba in the late fall of 1995, once a week for ten week sessions at a local leisure centre. This lasted for the next few years and during that time she painted only with oils. In 1998 she joined a local art club and her time at the easel doubled along with the club workshops and private workshop sessions.

In 2003 Suzanne added watercolors to the mix and then dabbled in Pottery for a bit in 2006, quickly moving on to Acrylics in early 2007. She considers herself an explorer. Working in all of these mediums gives her new meaning to the word challenge and she often lets the subject matter choose the medium she works in. Her paintings entice you with their textures and colors and each one has its own special story.

Suzanne has appeared in many group shows over the years, teamed up with a fellow artist for a two person show in 2008.  In July 2011 reached a major milestone when she had her first solo showing of her works. This month long show took place at the Gwen Fox Gallery in Selkirk, Manitoba and the work was very well accepted by all the visitors to the show, especially a triptych she completed for the show titled Manitoba Marsh, I, II and III. This painting was in the works for a year and is by far the largest painting she has done to date. Each piece is 36 x 36 so the triptych is 36 inches high and 9 feet long.  Known as the “Sky Lady” to her peers, she has an overwhelming passion to paint the ever changing Prairie Skies, over land or water. “Skies amaze me, and I just have to paint them”.

Suzanne’s artwork is in many private collections throughout Canada, the United States and abroad.  She was granted acceptance into the Manitoba Society of Artists (M.S.A.) in 2008, and holds memberships in the Gimli Art Club, The Local Colour Art Group, the Gwen Fox/Selkirk Community Art Centre and the Assiniboine Group of Artists.

In 2009 Suzanne and her husband George finished building their retirement home and moved from Winnipeg to the beautiful small town of Gimli Manitoba where she now paints full time in her home studio.

Her works are on permanent display in the Gimli Art Club Gallery by the harbor, and can also be seen in Suzanne’s home studio in Gimli by appointment.  In June and September Suzanne opens her home studio for “The WAVE Interlake Artist Studio Tour" and participates in Art Expo in October out at Assiniboine Downs.
